The Burning BRASs Band is a feminist brass and percussion band based in Montreal and in operation since the summer of 2022. ék is an interdisciplinary project by the sound and movement, trumpet and trombone duo composed of Montréal-based brass players Émilie Fortin and Kalun Leung. The project builds on a new mime-sound vocabulary that combines wordless storytelling performed by one instrumentalist while the other instrumentalist creates “Foley” sound effects using only their instrument (either trumpet or trombone).
